I need something with more options for how I want to schedule my recurring tasks. Microsoft To Do was great at first, but I think Ive outgrown it. Also, when I need to view a task that has an attachment, I just view the task in Reminders. Need a better To Do List app than Microsoft To Do. I can put together a “GTD-style” app but still get my location-based reminders and excellent Siri integration. The nice thing about GT is that you can set it up however your brain works and in whatever way you find the fastest.
Once I got them both set up the way I wanted, I found that these two features made my task management so much faster. Like you, I find calendar events in GT a bit distracting.Īs for upcoming, I set that to show my tasks for the next 10 days. In GoodTask, I set up some of my smartlists to display calendar events and some to not. Like you, I also use Fabtastical, and I like that I can go over into that app for calendar management but still see my tasks. I love being able to use Reminders as the back-end database while using other apps to display the info. I’m shocked it’s not more popular given the recent improvements with Reminders. I think GoodTask is a seriously underrated app. I’m not giving up on Things entirely and will be keeping an eye on it when they release Things4. I still have to go into the Reminders app for some things but GoodTask makes this really simple. GoodTask brings a lot of features to Reminders that I find helpful. It’s still a work in progress, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the outcome. As I did this, I wondered if I could replicate the Things3 UI and workflow using GoodTask. I decided to give it a try again and had fun customizing themes and smartlists. I used GoodTask in the past, which is an app that leverages Reminders as a database. That said, there were so many aspects of Things I missed. Siri integration was better and I quickly found that attachments and shared tasks were features I couldn’t go back to living without.
I recently started using Apple Reminders to see if it could work as a replacement for Things3 and while I don’t like the UI and today view as much, I did find that it functionally worked better for my needs. However, I’m sure like some people here, I’ve struggled with the lack of certain features in Things3, namely not having attachments, task sharing, and location-based reminders. From a UI and GTD perspective, it’s great. I’ll preface this by saying I LOVE Things3.
